What it’s like to live in Motor City

Motor City is a freehold community of low-rise apartments, townhouses and villas in Dubailand, master-developed by Union Properties around the Dubai Autodrome. It lies off Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Umm Suqeim Street, between Dubai Sports City and Arabian Ranches.

Uptown Motor City holds most of the apartments in low-rise buildings around green courtyards, while Green Community Motor City has villas and townhouses. The overall feel is calmer and greener than nearby high-density areas, and newer projects such as Sobha Realty's Sobha Solis are adding taller towers on the edge of the community. Uptown's low-rise buildings are arranged around shaded courtyards and pedestrian paths, which gives the neighbourhood a village scale that is uncommon in newer, denser parts of Dubai.

Motor City suits families and people who want space at mid-market prices. The trade-offs: no metro, occasional noise from Autodrome events, and a limited dining scene compared with JVC or the Marina. Some older buildings have dated interiors, and yields are slightly lower than in Sports City because prices are higher. Many families in Motor City stay for several years, which helps keep the community settled and neighbourly. For investors, well-maintained apartments near First Avenue Mall and the courtyards let steadily, while townhouses attract long-term family tenants. As with any Dubailand community, check what is planned on nearby plots before you buy.
